Researchers at the UmeƄ University in Sweden have developed a new RNA test of blood platelets that can detect, classify and pinpoint the location of cancer in the body by analysinga blood sample equivalent in size to just a single drop of blood.
“We have studied how a whole new blood-based methodof biopsy can be used to detect cancer, which in the future renders an invasive cell tissue sample unnecessary in diagnosing lung cancer, for instance.”While the technique isn’t 100 percent perfect yet, it’s definitely showing promise.
